We are joining together with our neighbours at St Mary of Eton/St John of Jerusalem to start a new discipleship programme this Autumn. It is for anyone interested in preparing for Baptism, First Holy Communion or Confirmation—and for anyone simply wanting to explore more about what we believe. - 29 Sept – St John of Jerusalem, Lauriston Road, E9 7EY
- 6 Oct – St Mary of Eton, Eastway, Hackney Wick E9 5JA
- 13 Oct – St John of Jerusalem

Hackney Night Shelter are having their annual sponsored Sleep Out on the evening of Friday 9 October, here in the churchyard at St John of Jerusalem. The funds raised last year enabled the Shelter to continue operating all year, providing shelter for over 200 people. This year they'd like to involve twice as many people to take part! The Sleep Out is not intended to replicate the dangers and harsh conditions experienced by people sleeping rough. They will gather together in the evening for soup, a little live music and to hear from former shelter guests. In the morning they'll head indoors for a cooked breakfast. It will be very safe and suitable for all ages.
The registration and information page is:

and any questions etc can be asked at: Sleepout@HackneyDoorways.org.uk
There's a £20 fee, you get a hoodie and it is hoped you can raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship money.
There will be a crafting day on Saturday, 24 October, 10am-3pm, in the Parish Room, to help prepare for the Christmas Bazaar (which will take place on Saturday 28 November). All welcome. Please speak to Sue Cannon to find out more.
We are looking for new volunteers to assist occasionally with our Junior Church and/or Youth Group. (A DBS check and some safeguarding training would be necessary.) Please speak to Lisa-Raine or Estelle for further details.
Leander Court (63 Balcorne St, E9 7AZ), where congregation member Anne lives, has a knitting group, which apparently is open to all. Tuesdays, 3-4pm. Anyone interested, please speak to congregation member Anne Farrugia.
